DFCCIL celebrates its 12th Foundation Day

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) celebrated its 12th foundation day on 29.10.2017 in a function organised at Air Force Auditorium Subroto Park, New Delhi. The function was graced by Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Sh. Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board and Chairman, DFCCIL.

On this occasion Sh. Anshuman Sharma, Managing Director, Sh. Naresh Salecha, Director/Finance, Sh. H. D. Gujrati, Director/OP & BD and Sh. D.S. Rana, Director/Infra, Independent Directors, Representatives of World Bank & JICA, Senior Officers from Railway Board, officials from DFCCIL, other Ministries & PSUs and other stake holders were also present.

Speaking on the occasion Sh. Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways said that DFCCIL is an ambitious project of Indian Railways which will not only take it to new heights but also improve the rail transport capacity and is an environment friendly mode of transport. He added that by segregating freight and passenger traffic, Indian Railways will be able to provide better and efficient logistics services to the industry. He assured to extend all support to DFCCIL in achieving its target.

Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board and Chairman DFCCIL, in his address to the gathering said that DFCCIL is an important augmentation to the existing Infrastructure of Indian Railways and it will help in regaining the lost market share of Indian Railways in freight transport. He also said that with the coming of DFC, Indian Railways will be able to diversify the freight basket which is currently limited to eight commodities.

Shri Anshuman Sharma, MD, DFCCIL, on this occasion, said that DFCCIL is fully committed to fulfil the expectations of country by creating world class rail infrastructure as per the scheduled timeline. He said that DFCCIL has made tremendous progress during the last few years in Award of Contract, Capital Expenditure and Land Acquisition which reflects DFCCIL’s commitment to the nation.

DFCCIL, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) is engaged in planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the Dedicated Freight Corridors and in the first phase, the two corridors, namely Eastern Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni (1856 Kms) and the Western Corridor from Dadri to Jawahar Lal Nehru Port (JNPT) (1504 Kms) are being constructed for exclusively movement of Goods Trains.

The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor from Ludhiana to Dankuni near Kolkata is traversing states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Western Dedicated Freight corridor from Dadri (Uttar Pradesh) to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (Mumbai) is passing through Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The Western Corridors is being funded by Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA), while the Eastern Corridor from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana is being funded by the World Bank.
