East-West Metro update: General Manager Shri Manoj Joshi reviews progress of construction work

Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Metro Railway o­n 20.07.2020 held a high-level meeting with senior officers at Metro Rail Bhavan. During this meeting, he reviewed the progress of East-West Metro construction work and instructed to maintain the pace of the work to meet the deadline.

  • He stressed o­n maintaining proper fitness of rolling stock, tunnels, signaling system, power supply, machineries and other assets of Metro Railway during lockdown.
  • He advised concerned officials to make available adequate quantities of cleaning chemicals, disinfectant and sanitizer dispensers at Metro stations for the benefit of Metro commuters o­nce Metro services resume. 
  • Shri Joshi also reviewed the condition of Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital.
  • He has expressed his satisfaction about the treatment being provided to patients at this hospital. 
  • He also instructed Medical Officers to train the medical staff properly for enabling them to provide best possible care to the Covid patients.
  • Meanwhile, de-launching of abandoned girders going on along Noapara-Bimanbander metro corridor.
  • Metro Railway has been executing the Noapara-Bimanbander Extension Project.
  • For executing this project along this alignment, most of the existing abandoned viaducts of Circular Railway are required to be dismantled.
  • On 09.07.2020, one such girder was de-launched successfully. 
  • There are about a 100 girders stretched over the busy Jessore Road and on some parts of VIP Road which have to be removed in order to facilitate construction of the proposed new lines of Metro Railway from Dum Dum Cantonment to Bimanbander via Jessore Road.
  • De-launching of these abandoned girders have been going on during the lockdown period.
