MoU signed for Redevelopment of Dehradun railway station

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) and Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), on 05 December 2019, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the redevelopment project of the Dehradun railway station.

  • The MoU was signed between the MDDA vice chairman Mr. Ashish Kumar Srivastava and RLDA vice chairman Mr. Ved Prakash.

  • Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat was present on the ocassion.
  • This was the first public-private partnership (PPP) model was would be adopted as an example in the country, he said.
  • He said, in recent years, various developmental projects have been completed before the deadline which also results in saving funds.
  • Now the Dehradun railway station redevelopment work will be started, Mr. Srivastava said.
  • Feasibility study, detailed master planning, urban planning and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project have been completed.
  • This project will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 507 crore and will be completed in 3 years.

  • The railway station construction will be undertaken according to Uttarakhand’s architectural style.
  • A budget and star hotel, commercial space, parking, kids zone, special provisions for the differently-abled, main gate on the main road to the railway station, construction of a clock tower on the lines of the one in old Tehri, pedestrians plaza, underpass, another entry from the Bhandaribagh side and separate arrangement for entry and exit will be developed as part of this project.
  • Chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
