The Ambassador of Israel Mr. Naor Gilon accompanied by Consul General of Israel Mr. Kobbi Shoshani visited Vidhan Bhavan metro station of the Mumbai Metro 3 project. Brief About Vidhan Bhavan Metro Station:
- Vidhan Bhavan metro station will provide a direct connectivity to Mantralaya, Vidhan Bhavan & New Administrative Building.
- Vidhan Bhawan station is being constructed by employing the Cut-and-Cover method.
- It will have seven Entry-Exit points.
- The station is expected to see footfalls of more than 75,000 up-and-down commuters.
Brief About Mumbai Metro Line-3:
- MML-3 project – 33.5Km long corridor running along Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ, envisages to decongest the traffic situation in Greater Mumbai.
- Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) is the nodal agency responsible for the implementation of Mumbai Metro Line–3 (MML-3) project.
- It has been constituted as a JV of the Govt. of India (GOI) and the Government of Maharashtra (GOM) on a 50:50 sharing basis.
- With full-scale operations of MML-3, the city would witness significant reduction in traffic volumes and the local transit facility would get a boost.
- Upon completion, this fully underground corridor with 27 stations would connect Six business districts, 30 educational institutes, 30 recreational facilities and domestic as well as international airport terminals.
- It will have five interchange points for suburban railway and one each for Monorail and ‘Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar’ Metro-1.
Recent Update Related to MML-3:
The Mumbai Metro Line 3 project got its 5th and final tranche of official development assistance (ODA) of INR 4,474 crores from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project aims to cope with the increase in traffic demand in Mumbai by expanding the mass rapid transportation system, promoting regional economic development, and improving the urban environment through the mitigation of traffic jams and the reduction of pollution caused by motor vehicles.
