BEML secures Rs. 866.87 crore high-speed rail contract from ICF

BEML Limited has been awarded a major contract by Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, for the design, manufacturing, and commissioning of two high-speed trainsets. Each train set will comprise 8 cars with a 280 kmph test speed, and a contract value of Rs. 866.87 crore. The cost includes essential components like design, one-time development, and tooling, ensuring long-term use for future high-speed rail projects.

Key Specifications:

The train sets, to be built at BEML’s Bengaluru rail coach complex, will feature advanced amenities such as reclining, rotatable seats, onboard infotainment, and special provisions for passengers with restricted mobility. Fully air-conditioned with a Chair Car configuration, these trains are set to operate at a test speed of 280 kmph.
