General:
A Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) was announced by the Government of Odisha in Bhubaneswar Region covering the route from Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia Square and other areas of the city. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) was engaged for preparation of the Detailed Project Report for the Metro Rail system from Bhubaneswar Airport to Trisulia Square.

Scope of Works:
- The Scope of Works under this contract covers design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of passenger rolling stock and the training of operation and maintenance personnel for BMRCL.
- The Scope also covers supply of spares, special tools, testing and diagnostics equipment, jigs and fixtures, Driving Simulator etc for maintenance, repair and overhaul of cars.
- The cars required for the corridors shall be of modern design, lightweight made of stainless steel, with 3 phase AC drive having V.V.V.F control, regenerative braking, suitable for CBTC based ATP, ATO, etc. provided by other Designated Contractors and shall be suitable for Train Operation conforming to Grade of Automation– ‘GOA2’ as specified in IEC62290-1 (latest revision).
- The cars shall operate on 750V DC third rail current collection system for elevated and at grade sections.
