Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has been continuing its construction activities duly following Covid protocols. Some of the BMRCL employees and around 8,000 construction workers working on the project are from outside the city and from different states.
- As part of its responsibility and commitment to the welfare of its employees and the construction workers for isolation and care, BMRCL has established a 100 bed COVID Care Centre (CCC) to help in the efforts of the Government of Karnataka to combat the surge of Covid-19.
- In accordance with guidelines of BBMP, this CCC facility has been established by BMRCL at Hotel Ekaa, Kudlu Gate, Hosur Main Road, Bangalore 560 068, hiring the entire hotel.
- M/s Jaishree Multi Speciality Hospital, Hosur Road, Bangalore has been engaged to providing round the clock medical care at the centre.
- Arrangements for good hygiene and for nutritious diet to the inmates, have been made.
- This CCC will provide care for Covid-19 Positive asymptomatic and mild symptomatic BMRCL employees and construction workers and the isolation facility to combat the spread of pandemic.
- This CCC is also equipped with Oxygen concentrators and Oxygen cylinders to facilitate immediate care for the patients when required.
- BMRCL has tied up with nearby hospitals to shift the patients if they require critical care.
- BMRCL took a similar initiative last year from July to October 2020.
- This year also this 100-bed Covid Care Centre will provide the necessary care to its needy employees and construction workers.

Meanwhile, BMRCL a Joint Venture of Government of Karnataka and Government of India, has invited open bids through National Competitive Bidding (Single stage – Two Envelope System) for the “Detailed Design Consultancy (DDC) for Airport Depot at Doddajala and Remodelling of existing Baiyappanahalli Depot for Bangalore Metro Rail Project-Phase-2A & 2B.”

About the project:
- The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is a joint venture enterprise of Government of India and Government of Karnataka, entrusted with the responsibility of implementation of Bangalore Metro Rail project. The Phase-1 of the project which is already under operation consists of 42.3 km with 40 stations. The East West Corridor is for a length of 18.2 km and North South Corridor is for a length of 24.1 Km. The underground section, which is 8.80 km in length, has seven stations including the interchange station at Majestic.
- The Phase-2 of Bangalore Metro Rail Project consists of Four Extensions to the existing lines and Two New Lines with a total length of 72.095 km with 61 stations (49 Elevated and 12 Underground).
