Chennai Metro Update: Tenders invited for Electrical and Mechanical works for Corridor-2 of Phase 1

The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has invited online open tender (through e-procurement) from Reputed and experienced E&M agencies through National Competitive Bidding (NCB) under Single stage two envelope system with initial filter (Technical & Financial) for the works as detailed below:

  • Name of work: Tender for providing Electrical and Mechanical Facility Maintenance Services in Eleven Underground metro stations and its associated tunnels (Corridor-2: Tirumanagalam to Chennai Central & Phase-1 Extension: Thiyagaraya College to Tondiarpet), Seven Elevated Metro Stations (Phase-1 Extension: New Washermenpet to Wimco Nagar Depot Station), and One Elevated Depot (Wimco Nagar)

Tunnel ventilation system:

The Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) is an important feature of the Metrorail system. The system consists of a network of far shafts (consisting of multiple fans), vent, and shafts. It is designed to serve several major functions:

  • Reduce excessive air movement within stations by provision of vent shafts at each end of each station.
  • Maintain the temperature of the tunnel, by exhausting heat generated from the operation of trains.
  • Remove smoke from the tunnels during emergencies, utilizing the combined system of fan shafts, and vent shafts etc.

Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) has been provided in Two Underground stations viz Thiyagaraya College Metro (STC), Tondiarpet Metro (STR).

Note:

TVS System is covered by DLP for TWO years, after that OEM will take care the systems for 5 years under AMC Contract, hence TVS system breakdown faults will be taken care by AMC vendor.

Scope of Works:

  • Carryout daily operation of all TVS equipment as per mode table in co-ordination with TVS controller/TPC.
  • Ensure healthiness of all equipment associated with the TVS system.
  • Monitoring all TVS equipment shift wise and update the mode status with CMRL Engineer/Manager at each shift.
  • Cleaning of all TVS system at regular interval as directed by CMRL Engineer, the TVS system which are Tunnel Ventilation Fans, Pressurized Fans, Draft Relief Dampers, Tunnel Ventilation Damper, Volume Control Damper, OTE
  • Damper, Sound Attenuators, MCC Electrical Panels, Variable Speed Drive, PLC with controllers (VCP) and Sensors (Air temperature, Soil temperature, Train Detection Sensors, tunnel Wall temperature sensors) and keep these system spic and span.
  • Preparation of Daily Position Reports, Failure Investigation Reports, Operation & Maintenance Reports, Log Books etc. of TVS system shall be submitted to CMRL Engineer/Manager, if required all these data to be updated in the form of soft copy as per the direction CMRL Engineer/Managers.
  • Faults raised through CMRL fault app and faults identified by observation shall be compiled and its action taken report shall be submitted to CMRL Engineer on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • EMMS to ensure planned/preventive maintenance activities are carried by external vendor as per check list and shall provide all reasonable supports to the external vendor during maintenance activities and to ensure all the system is restored on completion of maintenance.
  • Reports from Annual Maintenance Contract Vendor/ Contractor upon completion of maintenance shall be obtained and it should be submitted to CMRL Engineer.
  • Any other works required for day to day operation and maintenance shall also be carried out as assigned by CMRL Engineer.
