Chennai Metro’s fare system gets a tech boost: Shellinfosg Consortium secures Rs. 42.58 crore contract

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has taken a significant leap forward in modernising its fare collection capabilities by awarding a contract to M/s Shellinfosg Consortium for the development of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) Back Office Systems, earmarked for the ambitious Phase-II project.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited floated the tender for Contract No. CMRL/PHASE–II/SYS/C4- AFA03a/2023 in which the awarded company has to establish the Back office of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System for all the corridors.

Contract Details in Brief:

  • The scope of work involves establishing the Back office of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System for Chennai Metro for all Corridors.
  • The tender was awarded to M/s Shellinfosg Consortium for an amount of Rs. 42.58 Crores.

At Signing Ceremony:

  • The Contract Agreement was signed by Mr. Rajesh Chaturvedi, Director (Systems and Operations) on behalf of CMRL and Mr. Murali Krishna Chappalli – Managing Director, on behalf of M/s Shellinfosg Consortium.
  • Mr. K.A. Manoharan, Advisor (S&T/IT & AFC), Mr. S. Ashok Shankar, Manager (Tele & AFC), AFC Experts and Deputy Team Leaders of both GC1 & GC2, along with Officials from CMRL and Officials from M/s Shellinfosg Consortium were present during the occasion.

This strategic move by CMRL, in partnership with M/s Shellinfosg Consortium, not only signifies a technological advancement in fare collection methods but also underscores a commitment to enhancing public transportation in Chennai.
