Chennai Metro has taken a significant step towards expanding its network by signing a contract agreement with M/s Aarvee Associates for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro corridor extending from Poonamallee to Parandur. This project aims to enhance urban connectivity and support the region’s growing transportation needs.

The contract agreement has been signed between Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and M/s Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. for a value of Rs.1.74 Crores (excluding GST) for the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro corridor from Poonamalle to Parandur via Thirumazhisai and Sriperambudur. The DPR will outline the project’s technical, financial, and operational aspects, paving the way for efficient and sustainable metro development.
Brief about the Extension Corridor:
- This proposed corridor is approximately 43.63 km long and includes approximately 19 elevated Metro stations.
- The preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the corridor is being undertaken in consideration of recent developments, such as the proposed new airport at Parandur, the proposed bus terminus at Thirumazhisai, and the future growth potential along the corridor.
- The work involves more than 100 boreholes for soil investigation and topographical survey using Drones for the entire length. The assignment is expected to be completed by November 2024.
- Following an extensive alignment study during the DPR stage, the total number of stations and the details of land requirements will be finalised.
Key Presence During Contract Ceremony:
In the presence of Mr. M.A. Siddique, I.A.S., Managing Director, CMRL, the contract agreement was signed by Mr. T. Archunan, Director (Projects) on behalf of CMRL, and Mr. M. Khaleel Basha, Vice President on behalf of M/s Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. Mr. T. Livingstone Eliazer, CGM (PP&D), Tmt. Rekha Prakash, CGM (P&D), and other officials from CMRL and the Consultant were also present during the occasion.
