CRS greenlights train operations on new Bhairabi-Hortoki rail line, boosting connectivity in Mizoram

The Commissioner of Railway Safety has authorised the operation of freight and passenger trains on the newly constructed 16.725 km BG line between Bhairabi and Hortoki in Mizoram, part of the Bhairabi-Sairang capital connectivity project. This milestone will enhance regional connectivity, promote local industries, and reduce travel time and transportation costs.

Brief of the Project:

The Bhairabi-Hortoki rail line is part of the broader Bhairabi-Sairang project, a critical initiative under Indian Railways‘ capital connectivity efforts. Spanning 16.725 km, this section includes 20 major bridges, 27 minor bridges, 13 tunnels, and modern station amenities at Hortoki. Designed for speeds up to 100 KMPH, it incorporates advanced safety and communication systems suitable for seismic zone V.
