Delhi Metro update: Driverless Train Operations to be inaugurated section of Pink Line Corridor on Thursday

Driverless Train Operations (DTO) on Delhi Metro’s Pink Line (Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar) will be formally inaugurated on the 25th of November, 2021 (Thursday) by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Sh. Hardeep Singh Puri and the Transport Minister of NCT of Delhi, Sh. Kailash Gahlot via video conferencing at 11:30 am.

About Driverless Train: 

Last year the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first ever driverless train operations on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line (Janakpuri West – Botanical Garden) as well as the fully operational National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) services on the Airport Express Line via video conference.

  • With the commencement of driverless trains on the Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line, DMRC entered the elite league of 7% of world’s Metro networks which can operate without drivers.
  • The driverless trains will be fully automated which will require minimum human intervention and will eliminate the possibilities of human errors. 
  • Delhi Metro has been a pioneer in introducing technology driven solutions for passenger comfort and this is another step in the same direction.
