Delhi Metro’s display titled ‘Veerta aur Vikas’ inaugurated at the Rajouri Garden metro station

A unique permanent exhibition dedicated to the gallantry award recipients of the Indian Armed Forces and the journey of India’s most successful urban transit project, the Delhi Metro was inaugurated at the Rajouri Garden Metro station on 01st September, 2022 by DMRC’s Managing Director, Sh. Vikas Kumar in the presence of family members of some other illustrious gallantry award recipients.

More details:

  • This unique exhibition is a tribute to the gallantry award recipients of the Indian Armed Forces who have shown exemplary courage to preserve the sovereignty and dignity of the nation.
  • Through specially designed panels, efforts have been made to blend in the stories of their courage and bravery and the incredible growth story of the Delhi Metro. Keeping the theme in mind, the exhibition has been aptly named, ‘’Veerta Aur Vikas”.

  • Spread over a length of about a hundred feet, this exhibition features 13 panels where the details about India’s gallantry awards and the awardees have been shared through carefully curated panels.
  • In addition, the permanent exhibition also features panels on the highlights of the Delhi Metro – its genesis, environmental benefits etc. The exhibition also has a panel on the major events of India since independence.
  • During the inaugural event of the exhibition, DMRC also felicitated the family members of five decorated gallantry award recipients. Family members of Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra, Ashoka Chakra recipient Major Mohit Sharma, Maha Vir Chakra awardee Captain Anuj Nayyar and Maha Vir Chakra awardee Captain Pratap Singh were felicitated on the occasion as a mark of respect by Delhi Metro.

  • Rajouri Garden is one of the busiest interchange stations of the Delhi Metro network. The exhibition has been strategically installed here so that a large number of people can see the panels and become aware of the immense contribution made by the gallantry award winners. Since the exhibition is permanent in nature, now it will be an additional attraction for the passengers of the Delhi Metro.

  • The Delhi Metro stations are being utilized as platforms for the promotion of India’s rich culture and heritage. Many of Delhi Metro’s stations have exhibitions, displays and artworks depicting the history and cultural diversity of the nation. This exhibition here at Rajouri Garden is an important addition to the list of such stations.
