On the project front, DMRC’s team of architects and designers are regularly coordinating with site personnel, design consultants and contractors to finalise all the designs for the ensuing construction work of Phase 4. ‘Building Information Modeling’ (BIM), an online mechanism has been devised through which designs, drawings and 3d models can be uploaded online. Officers can leave their comments and observations through the same software and no hard copy or print out is necessary.

Senior officers are taking frequent meetings with the architects, engineers, contractors etc via video conference. The engineers deputed at the sites are also regularly conducting meetings through video conference to deliberate on a range of issues, which would be encountered once the construction work starts. Issues such as design submission and finalization, procurement orders by contractors, manpower deployment at sites etc are being dealt with. Daily Project Reports (DPR) are being prepared to keep a tab on the overall progress made.

The Safety department is organising frequent webinars for project engineers on various aspects of construction site safety. Five webinars have already been organised and another two are planned this week. More than 400 engineers across the DMRC hierarchy are attending these webinars. A webinar on the topic ‘Fire Safety at Home’ shall be organised on 19th April for the family members of DMRC employees by the Safety department.

In addition, DMRC’s employees have been permitted to take up over a number of online courses, both generic and specialised, which may help them in their careers. These courses are being conducted by reputed institutions and the Human Resources department has issued detailed guidelines regarding the same. The expenditure incurred in taking up the courses shall be reimbursed by DMRC. The initiative has received tremendous response as over 600 employees have registered for such courses so far.
