Eastern Railway registers growth in freight loading and earning performance in the month of September-2022

Eastern Railway, although widely known as passenger carrying Railway zone, is continuing the endeavour for achieving excellence in freight loading performance.

More details:

  • In the month of September 2022, Eastern Railway recorded a freight loading of 6.09 million tonnes in comparison to 5.58 million tonnes loaded in September of previous year thus registering a substantial growth of 9.14% with respect to that of last year’s loading in the corresponding month.
  • The cumulative figure of ER’s freight loading during first six months of the current financial year (2022-23), i.e., from April to September, 2022 recorded as 38.74 million tonnes in comparison to 35.14 million tonnes loaded upto September in the previous financial year (2021-22), thus registering a massive growth of 10.24%.
  • So far as total cumulative freight revenue earnings is concerned, Eastern Railway has earned ₹3014.71 crore which is 7.65% higher than the freight revenue earning of ₹2800.46 crore in the previous financial year.
  • The above freight loading and freight earning performance of Eastern Railway demonstrates its sincere commitment to maintain back-end supply chain and to ensure adequate and timely dispatch of essential commodities to the different parts of this vast nation tirelessly as an engine to development for the country.
