Eastern Railway Update: Doubling work of 7.35 km completed between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha

CRS (Commissioner Railway Safety, Eastern Circle) inspection of doubling work of 7.35 km between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha was completed o­n 1st February, 2023.

  • CRS (Commissioner Railway Safety, Eastern Circle) inspection of doubling work of 7.35 km between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha was completed o­n 1st February, 2023 and subsequently authorization has been received from CRS regarding running of trains through the newly incepted double line between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha at a speed of 100 kmph.
  • As a part of Eastern Railway’s continuous endeavour to bring more mobility and flexibility enabling speedy transportation, with the completion of the stretch of doubling between Bazarsau & Chowrigachha, the entire double line project between Bazarsau & Azimganj Jn. (42.15 km) is now fully completed enabling seamless double line movement in entire BAK loop with reduced journey time.

  • This will facilitate capacity enhancement and inception of new trains in future for more convenience of the passengers.
  • Thus, doubling of Katwa – Azimganj section is totally complete now and this has become a convenient alternative route to Northeastern region, establishing speedy connectivity between southern part of West Bengal to North Bengal and northeastern states.
  • It may be noted that, this year (2022-23) Eastern Railway has completed all the six projects with corresponding CRS sanction.
  • Among these, there are three super-critical projects & o­ne critical project which has been successfully completed by the Construction Wing of Eastern Railway.
