Enhancing Inter-state connectivity: CMRL initiates DFR preparation for extension line from Bommasandra to Hosur via Attibele

In a major advancement to enhance inter-state metro connectivity, Chennai Metro has initiated the preparation of a Detailed Feasibility Study Report for the extension of the MRTS line from Bommasandra in Bangalore to Hosur via Attibele.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is in the process of preparing Detailed Feasibility Study Report for extension of MRTS line from Bommasandra (Bangalore) to Hosur via Attibele as directed by MoHUA and approved by GoTN. This DFR is in the advanced stage of completion. This extension aims to provide seamless connectivity between Bangalore and Hosur, enhancing regional transportation and boosting economic integration.

Key Focus of the DFR:

The meetings focused on the feasibility of implementing the MRTS line which will cover a length of 23 kilometres including approximately 11 kilometres in Tamil Nadu and 12 kilometres in Karnataka with 12 metro stations and a depot planned along the route.

During Meeting:

  • In a step towards finalising this DFR, Mr. M. A. Siddique, I.A.S., Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), met with Mr. M. Maheshwar Rao, I.A.S., Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) at BMRCL Headquarters and discussed the salient features of this Metro Line from Hosur to Bommasandra.
  • Mr. T. Archunan, IRSE – Director (Projects), CMRL, Mr. R.K. Reddy Director (project planning), BMRCL, Mr. T. Livingstone Eliazer, Chief General Manager (PP&D), CMRL, other officials from CMRL, BMRC and consultants (M/s Balaji Railroad Systems Private limited JV and Habog Consultants Private Limited) were present during the discussion.
  • Following the discussion, the Chennai Metro Rail team along with Consultants travelled to Hosur and had discussions with Tmt. K.M. Sarayu, I.A.S., Collector of Krishnagiri, Mr. H.S. Srikanth, I.A.S., Hosur Municipality Corporation Commissioner and Tmt. Priyanka I.A.S., Hosur Sub- Collector.

Conclusion:

The Detailed Feasibility Study Report (DFR) for the MRTS line extension from Bommasandra to Hosur is nearing completion. This 23-kilometre project, approved by MoHUA and GoTN, will enhance connectivity between Bangalore and Hosur with 12 metro stations and a depot planned along the route, boosting regional transportation and economic integration between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
