Exclusive Interview with Mr. D.M. Bhatia, Managing Director, Indiana Gratings Private Ltd.

Please share with us more about yourself and brief history about your company?

Five decades ago Indiana started as a small fabricator, fabricating Window grills and slowly we diversified into industrial products i.e. Floor Gratings. Soon after we diversified into the field of Cable Trays manufacturing. Slowly and steadily we ventured into fabrication of Handrails and Heavy duty Fabricated Steel Structures for power projects, refineries and infrastructure projects.

Today Indiana is a diversified group of companies. The flagship company of the group is Indiana Gratings Private Limited (IGPL) which is an ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 1800 certified company. IGPL is also certified ISO 3834 Part 2 by International Institute of Welding and also CE certification in accordance with EN 1090 -1:2009 +A1:2011 Steel structural components. Besides catering to domestic market, our products are exported across the globe including developed countries like USA. We have received 23 times Export award from Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC).

 


 

Can you please tell us about your updated product portfolio presently for the Rail & Metro sector? Some project references?

Indiana is RDSO approved and has executed many ROB and Bridges orders for Mumbai Metro, Pune Metro, Nagpur Metro etc. We have also supplied our Chequered plates / Grating platforms and Cable Trays to various Metro projects viz. Ahmedabad Metro, Chennai Metro, Delhi Metro, Kolkata Metro, Mumbai Metro etc.

 


 

There is a big push on Make in India today. How does your company achieve that ? What are the initiatives you have implemented to provide latest technology in India?

The Central Government has given a massive push to the infrastructure sector by allocating more than Rs.2 Lac crore to enhance the transport infrastructure. Besides metropolitan cities, now Metro rail systems are coming up in two-tier and three-tier Indian cities. To supply international standard material, we have imported CNC machineries from USA and Germany. With our fifty years’ experience and world-class manufacturing facilities, Indiana can contribute immensely to Make in India programme. Early movers always have the benefit of securing upcoming new business opportunities; Indiana is always in the forefront of diversifying into new ventures.
