G R Infraprojects Limited has secured a key contract for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project, Phase-2. The project includes the design and construction of a 17.624 km elevated metro viaduct, spanning key railway areas and featuring a six-lane double-decker segment. The awarded contract is valued at Rs. 903.53 crores, with a 30-month completion period.
Introduction & Project Overview:
G R Infraprojects Limited has been announced as the lowest bidder for a significant section of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project, Phase-2. The project involves designing and constructing a 17.624 km long elevated metro viaduct, between chainages 21256.814m to 38881.7m, with notable features including railway spans of 79m and 100m, and a 1.14 km six-lane double-decker viaduct with a vehicular underpass (VUP).
Scope of Work – Viaduct Construction:
The contractor’s responsibilities include constructing the elevated metro viaduct, along with the associated superstructure. A key aspect is the interfacing with NHAI and PWD/MH agencies for seamless integration of substructure and superstructure components in the specified chainages (25755.211m to 26895.211m).
Railway Spans & Double-Decker Flyover:
Construction includes designing and building special railway spans (79m and 100m) and a double-decker flyover, accommodating both metro and road traffic. The design of sub-structure for the double-decker segment falls under the NHAI, while G R Infraprojects will handle the superstructure.
Alignment and Coordination:
Detailed alignment, rail levels, flyover segments, and station locations have been pre-defined in the General Arrangement Drawing (GAD). Interfacing with other agencies for design criteria and structural requirements will be essential for project coordination.
Conclusion:
This contract reinforces G R Infraprojects’ growing portfolio in metro infrastructure, offering vital support to Nagpur Metro Phase-2’s development. The project’s seamless integration of metro and road infrastructure will significantly enhance the city’s urban transport landscape and improve connectivity across key zones.
