Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and Monash University, Australia, have signed an MoU to boost collaboration in railway engineering research, education, and executive training. This partnership will establish a joint research lab and develop innovative programs through Monash Institute of Railway Technology, enhancing railway systems in both India and Australia.
Areas of Collaboration:
The partnership will explore the establishment of a joint research lab focused on advanced technological railway engineering and collaboration on industrial projects to benefit both nations’ railway systems. Additionally, joint educational and executive training programs will be developed as part of this collaboration.
MoU Signing and Key Signatories:
The MoU was signed by Professor Craig Jeffrey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor-International and Senior Vice-President, Monash University, and Professor Manoj Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. The event was hosted by Dr. Monica Kennedy, Minister Commercial and Head of Austrade South Asia, at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi.

Professor Craig Jeffrey highlighted “I am delighted for Monash University to be partnering with GSV, India’s first University in the Transportation and Logistics sectors. Monash IRT is continuously developing new technologies to support increasing productivity and safety requirements at the same time as reducing risks and costs. The Institute has an established track record in solving railway related technical issues, and its solutions have been adopted by railway systems throughout the world. This new partnership between Monash IRT and GSV is a further expansion of Monash’s engagement with India.
Professor Manoj Choudhary mentioned “GSV is an industry-driven and innovation-led University with a relevant mandate to significantly impact national development through the transportation and logistics sectors. Railways is the life-line of the country’s transportation sector, and with rapid technological advancements, the railways sector is undertaking a transformative journey towards Viksit Bharat. We have much in common with Monash University, a research-intensive university that works with leading institutions and industry for global impact.”
