Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Eknath Shinde flags off Azadi Express on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

To mark the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Shri Eknath Shinde, Hon. Chief Minister, Maharashtra State, Virtually flagged off Azadi Express in the presence of Mr. Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt of Maharashtra, Shri S.V.R. Srinivas, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA and other Senior officials.

More details:

  • This Azadi Express is a special initiative by MMRDA and MMMOCL to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This special Metro train will be joining in the fleet of Metro Line 2A and 7.
  • The Images of The Great Maratha Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Historical Castles of Maharashtra and many other Heritage Monuments were displayed on the Azadi Express.

Hon. Chief Minister, Shri Eknath Shinde said “Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has created a wave of patriotism across the country. Every citizen is participating in this celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. On this occasion I Salute the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India. I admire the work of shri. S.V.R. Srinivas and MMRDA’s team for this initiative”.

Shri Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Chief Secretary, Govt of Maharashtra said that, “Passengers should preserve the sanctity of Azadi Express, which reflects the Memory of the Struggle Indian Freedom Fight and also showcases the beauty of Maharashtra.”.

Shri S.V.R. Srinivas, Hon. Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA said “The Azadi Express will now add 18 trips taking the total no of trips to 172. This will help reduce the time interval between trips from 12 minutes to 10 minutes helping passengers save their precious time”.
