Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on 25th July, 2022 inspected Sealdah Metro Station and interacted with Press Media there.

- Shri Pradhan inspected the newly constructed Sealdah Metro Station meticulously and also took stock of the standout passenger amenities at Metro station.
While interacting with Media at Sealdah Metro Station, Shri Pradhan states, that since the inception of Metro work way back in the year 1972 till 2014, the total expenditure incurred on all Metro projects of Kolkata Metro Railway was only Rs. 6914 crores whereas during the last 8 years a whopping amount of Rs. 12776 crores has been incurred for Kolkata Metro projects, thereby registering huge hike in total outlay. He has also mentioned that during the first forty-two years of history of Kolkata Metro (1972-2014), only 27 kms of Metro network could be commissioned. During the last 8 years, Metro has almost doubled its network as it will complete a total network of 54 kms by the end of 2022.
He further said that, the newly built East-West Metro corridor is fully Central Government Funded Project incurring a total cost of Rs. 8575 crores and the entire stretch from Howrah Maidan to Salt Lake Sector V is going to be completed by the next year only & it will be a great bonanza for Kolkata to revolutionize the transport scenario of the City of Joy.
- Later, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister took a Metro ride from Sealdah to Phoolbagan and appreciated the construction work, architecture and the State-of-the-art facilities available in East-West Metro corridor.
