About the project:
- Ministry of Railways, acting through Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), Central Railway, having its principal office at, 6th floor, New Administrative Building Dr. D. N. Road, CSMT Mumbai, Maharashtra (Employer) is engaged in the development of railways and related infrastructure, and as part of this endeavour, the Employer has decided to undertake “Construction of 3rd Railway line between Maramjhiri (Km. 841.9) and Chichonda (Km. 911.7) on [Itarsi – Nagpur section of Central Railway” (the “Project”).
- The Project entails construction of 3rd line (Single Track) between Maramjhiri and Chichonda stations of Itarsi-Nagpur Section of Central Railways on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
- The existing tracks are operational as a Double line section between Itarsi and Nagpur and the 3rd line works are in progress between Chichonda and Nagpur.
- The section comprises an important railway route on the Central Railway connecting Secunderabad to New Delhi. The entire line is an electrified section.
- The Project alignment starts from Maramjhiri (MJY) Station (including) and ends at Chichonda (CCD) Station (excluding), connecting 8 number of stations.
- The alignment passes partly through plain and partly through rolling terrain.
- The existing railway track is designed for the maximum permissible speed of 120 KMPH for passenger services and an axle load of MBG/RBG loading for freight traffic.
