In a significant development for the ongoing expansion of Delhi Metro’s network, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. has been chosen by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) to manufacture and supply HH Rails for its ambitious Phase-IV project. The contract, encapsulated in a Letter of Acceptance (LoA), marks a critical step forward in enhancing the urban mobility infrastructure of India’s capital.

- Name of Work: Manufacturing and Supply of 16935 MT HH Rails UIC 60/60 E-1 (Class-A), 1080 Grade, IRS-T-12-2009, on CIF basis (Indian Port) for DMRP – Phase-IV Corridors (i) Line-8 Extn. (ii) Line-7 Extn. (iii) Line-10.
- Completion Period for the Contract is: 365 Days
- The Awarded Value of the Tender is: Rs. 155,87,57,349.90/-
Specification for the HH Rails:
Manufacturing:
- The steel used for the manufacture of rails shall be made by basic oxygen or electric arc furnace process and continuously cast. Any other method of casting shall have prior approval of the Purchaser. For molten steel secondary ladle refining is mandatory. The manufacturer in his offer shall furnish details of the steel making process including refining, vacuum degassing.
- The cross sectional area of the bloom shall not be less than ten times that of the rail section to be produced.
- The manufacturer shall apply the best accepted code of practice throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that the rails meet the stipulations of this specification. The manufacturer shall, on request, inform the purchaser of the measures adopted for ensuring the above.
Length of Rails:
The standard length o f rail shall be 13 metres or 18 metres or 25 metres or 26 metres. The manufacturer shall be entitled to supply in pairs of short lengths up to 10% by weight o f the quantity contracted for or ordered. Shorter lengths shall not be less than 10.0m in length for 13.0M and shall not be less than 16M in lengths for 18M and shall not be less than 23M in lengths for 25M and 24 M in lengths of rail for 26M. Short lengths shall be in multiples of 1.0M. In case of 60E1A1 Rails, length shall be suitable for Turnout design offered/proposed.
