In a significant development for the Katni-Singrauli doubling project, IRCON has issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to M/s Chintpurni Construction Company. The contract encompasses track linking and associated works, marking a crucial step forward in the project’s execution and contributing to the enhancement of rail connectivity and capacity in the region.

Background:
There is an existing single line between Katni to Singrauli. Singrauli has major coalfields and many power plants have been set up, to which there is growing inward and outward traffic. On average 394 freight trains (Up/Dn) run in the section per month apart from 8 (eight) pairs of coaching trains per day. This proposed doubling line with electric traction shall facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow in the section.
The proposed line shall run parallel to the existing line on the left side between Katni to Singrauli. The construction work of the Rail doubling project from New Katni Jn to Singrauli (261 Km) with electrification and other allied work has been awarded to IRCON under West Central Railway, Jabalpur. There are a total 29 stations in between.
Scope of Work for the Contractor:
- Track linking for BG track manually including all P-Way fittings and materials from RDSO approved firms inclusive of transportation, supply, stacking, storage in safe custody of all relevant P-Way fittings and materials supplied under BOQ at contractor’s own store at work site till completion of work.
- No additional payment shall be made to the contractor on this account and the rate quoted by the contractor will be deemed to be inclusive of all.
- The contractor shall be responsible for safe custody of P-Way fittings and materials from RDSO approved firms under BOQ item. Any Loss/damage/theft will be on account of the Contractor.
- The contractor must submit a reconciliation statement of all relevant P-Way fittings and materials with Running on Account & Final Bill.
- The contractor shall return all balance P-Way fittings and materials after completion of work to IRCON before processing of final Bill.
- The Contractor(s) is expected to use the latest technology and machinery and achieve the most efficient and best quality finished construction.
- The tenderers are advised to explore accessibility, availability of approach road, nature of soil, availability of materials, and extent of lead and lift involved in the work, availability of skill and unskilled labours etc. that may be encountered in the course of execution of work.
- As the nature of work warrants ensuring the high level of dimensional precious accuracy along with high control, tenderers should make it a point to understand the work carefully and thoroughly before quoting the rates.
- The contractor shall work out the requirement of manpower and machineries coping with the scope of work to be completed within the targeted period and accordingly ensure deployment of those manpower and machineries.
