Kochi Metro Update: Tender invited for supply and installation of additional signage boards at stations

Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has invited online bids (e-Tender) under two packet systems from eligible applicants for Providing additional signage boards at stations.

Objective:

  • The objective of the contract is “Providing Additional Signage Boards At Stations” (including without limitation, the maintenance and removal of the Temporary works) and the rectification of defects appearing in permanent works in the manner and to the standard and within the time stipulated by the contract.
  • In full recognition of this objective, and with full acceptance of the obligations, liabilities and risks, which may be involved, the contractor shall undertake the execution of the works. 2. Technical specifications & scope of work.

Scope of Work:

  • Supply & fixing of 8mm clear cast acrylic with CNC laser engraving letters with approved colour vinyl or PU spraying background as per design & instruction of engineer in charge.
  • Supply & fixing of acrylic steel type moulding for board border side beeding.
  • Supply & fixing of steel studs/spacer for fixing the boards on walls.
  • Supply & fixing of approved colour UV printing or 3M vinyl as per design and instruction of engineer in charge.
  • Removing/refixing of existing signage boards for the installation of proposed new signages at locations wherever applicable as per instruction of engineer in charge.

Specifications:

  • All materials and products shall conform to relevant standard specification, BIS codes and other relevant codes etc. and shall be of make as approved by Engineer. For other details please see Bill of Quantities.

Contractor’s Responsibilities:

  • The Contractor confirms that it has entered into this Contract on the basis of a proper examination of the data relating to the Facilities provided by the Employer, The Contractor acknowledges that any failure, to acquaint itself with all such data and information shall not relieve its responsibility for properly estimating the difficulty or cost of successfully performing the Facilities.
  • The contractor should use materials and workmanship as per the industry standards and best practices and keep the aesthetic look of the premises.
  • The Contractor shall comply with all laws, which are in force in India. The laws will include all local, state, national or other laws that affect the performance of the Contract and bind upon the Contractor.
  • The Contractor shall indemnify and hold harmless the Employer from and against any and all liabilities, damages, claims, fines, penalties and expenses of whatever nature arising or resulting from the violation of such laws by the Contractor or its personnel, including the Subcontractors and their personnel.
  • All costs, damages and expenses which Kochi Metro Rail Limited may have incurred or suffered and which are recoverable from the contractor under the terms of this contract or the relevant law may, at the discretion of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited be recovered by deducting the requisite amounts from any moneys due and payable or refundable to the contractor on any account whatsoever or by legal proceedings.
  • The Kochi Metro Rail Limited also reserves the right and shall be entitled to retain payments due to the contractor under this contract and to set off the same against all claims whether arising out of this contract or out of any other transaction whatsoever against the contractor.

Eligibility:

  • The bidder/applicant should submit the following documents as minimum eligibility criteria documents. The bids will not be considered for evaluation if any of the documents pertaining to minimum eligibility criteria are not submitted along with the bid.
  • The tenderers will be qualified only if they have successfully completed work(s) during the last 7 years ending on the last day of the month previous to the month of tender submission in any Central Govt./state Govt./PSU’s/KMRL or any private Limited company of repute as given below;
    • At least one “similar work”of value Rs 4.78 lakhs or more, or
    • Two “similar works” each of value Rs 2.99 lakhs or more, or
    • Three “similar works”each of value Rs 2.39 lakhs or more
  • The tenderers will be qualified only if they have minimum financial capabilities as below;
    • The average annual turnover of the tenderer during the last three audited financial years (2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22) should not be less than Rs 1.79 Lakhs.

About Kochi Metro:

  • The Kochi Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Kochi in Kerala, India.
  • It is 13-km long and has been built at a cost of Rs. 5,181 crore.
  • The Kochi metro project is the first metro in the country which connects rail, road and water transport facilities.
  • Kochi metro also includes the technology for driverless trains and is hoping to implement this in the near future.
  • KMRL has proposed an elevated route spanning 25 km (16 mi) from Aluva to Pettah with 23 stations. 
  • All platforms are 70 metres (230 ft) long.
  • KMRL has developed a unique PPP model wherein the capital investment as well as the maintenance cost is taken care by a bank and in return the bank to have a co-branded card for Kochi Metro System.
