Kolkata Metro added another Metro rake to its fleet

Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Metro Railway dedicated another AC rake (MR – 415) to the service of the Nation o­n 17.09.2021, Viswakarma Jayanti at Noapara Carshed. He has expressed his hope that with the addition of this AC rake to the fleet, Metro Railway will be able to further improve its services for the benefit of the people. 

  • He also inaugurated a Scissor Trolley at the Periodic Overhauling Workshop at Noapara Carshed.
  • Prior to this, General Manager participated in the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojanaprogramme which was launched by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology through video conferencing from Rail Bhavan on 17.09.2021. 
  • Shri Joshi also interacted with the trainees who will be imparted training under this programme at the Technical Training Centre of Noapara Carshed.  
  • He advised them to take this opportunity to improve their skills and wished them a very bright future.
  • Later, the General Manager planted a sapling and inaugurated a Flat Wagon for Accident Relief Train at Central Park Depot of East-West Metro.

Inspection of Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch:

  • Meanwhile, Shri Manoj Joshi made detailed inspection of Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch of East-West Metro Corridor o­n 09. 09.2021.
  • He started his inspection from Howrah Maidan Metro station along with senior Metro Railway and Kolkata Metro Railway Corporation (KMRCL) officials.
  • During the inspection, the progress of works of underground stations, traction sub stations, power supply systems, ventilation & air-conditioning systems, Platform Screen doors and other subsystems was reviewed.
  • Shri Joshi also conducted a trolley inspection from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade Metro station and inspected the tunnel section and progress of construction of cross passages.
  • Shri Manas Sarkar, Managing Director, KMRCL briefed him about the progress of work on this stretch.  
  • The General Manager also inspected the upcoming Howrah Maidan, Howrah, Mahakaran and Esplanade stations of East-West Metro along with entry and exit to stations and planning for interchange of passengers at Howrah and Esplanade stations.  
  • Shri Joshi expressed his satisfaction after seeing the progress of the work and advised all to complete all the pending works within the deadline.
