
A significant stride has been achieved, the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has reached a major milestone with the completion of the 170-metre long diaphragm wall (D-Wall) for the Victoria Metro Station of Kolkata Metro. This accomplishment marks significant progress in the construction of the metro infrastructure.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has achieved another milestone with the completion of the 170-metre long diaphragm wall (D-Wall) for the Victoria Metro Station on the Kolkata Metro’s Purple Line. This critical infrastructure development is part of the larger project extending from Mominpur to Esplanade. The Victoria Metro Station is poised to become a major hub, serving as a gateway to the Maidan area of Kolkata. This accomplishment underscores RVNL’s commitment to enhancing urban connectivity and advancing the Kolkata Metro network’s expansion, ultimately improving transit efficiency and accessibility for the city’s residents.
Progress Till Date:
- The construction work of Victoria Metro station of Purple Line of Kolkata Metro has been going on smoothly.
- This station is going to be one of the major stations of Purple Line which will be the gateway to the Maidan area of Kolkata.

- Construction work of Mominpur (Excl.) to Esplanade stretch of this Corridor has been going in that direction.
- Work order has been finalised and construction work has been going on with a target to complete it within the stipulated deadline.
Executing Agency RVNL:
- Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been entrusted to build this 325-metre long underground station and its platform level will be at the depth of 14.7-metre from the surface.
- Barricading work of the area required for construction of this underground station and other preparatory works have already been completed.
- At present RVNL engineers are busy with construction of the Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall) of this station.
- So far, construction work of the 170-metre long D-Wall has been completed. At this station it has been planned to construct a 709-metre long D-Wall.
- RVNL has envisaged to complete this job in approximately four months. After that, earth excavation and construction of station slabs will start.

- It is to be noted that, in order to construct this station, 22 trees have been transplanted to Kamardanga Railway land after taking permission from the Forest Department.
- This has cleared the infringements towards construction of this station.
- For the tunnelling work of the stretch from Khidderpore to Park Street stretch of this Corridor, two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) will be deployed from the Khidderpore launching shaft. ]
- At present, construction of this launching shaft inside the St. Thomas School premises at Khidderpore is also going-on.
