Construction work at Biman Bandar station site of Noapara-Barasat via Biman Bandar Metro project has been going on in full swing, even during the present Covid-19 pandemic.
The construction work at this station site went on throughout the night on last Friday, the day of lockdown. During the day of lockdown, reinforcement of cage binding of diaphragm wall and top slab was done.
- Apart from this, the potholes on the approach road which were affecting traffic movement near Biman Bandar Metro project site were also repaired
- All staff at this site have been following all Covid-19 protocols while executing the job.
- Meanwhile, on 16.09.2020 Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, Metro Railway Kolkata reviewed the progress of works of the different on-going Metro projects in the city with the senior officials of Metro Railway and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).
- During this meeting, he instructed all concerned officials to ensure the good progress of work.
- He emphasized on timely completion of these projects.
- Shri Joshi also advised all to strictly maintain social distancing norms and other protocols at Metro Station premises after the resumption of Metro services to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Underground construction progress:
- The underground construction work of Noapara-Barasat via Bimanbandar Metro Project has been going on in full swing amidst the lockdown maintaining social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols.
- The construction work of the diaphragm wall is currently in progress underneath Airport Entry Road at the proposed Bimanbandar Metro station site.
- For this construction work on the junction of heavily congested VIP Road and Airport Entry Road crossing, all the necessary steps have been taken for ensuring smooth vehicular movement on these roads.
- Traffic Marshalls have been posted here 24×7 as well as blinkers are also being used during the night time.
- Under the close supervision of Metro Railway officials in co-ordination with all the stake holders this work is going on smoothly.
- After the construction of temporary guide walls, soil is being excavated and the cage of the diaphragm wall is being lowered.
- The machine which is excavating the soil has the capacity to excavate the soil from the depth of 50 metre.
- The depth of this one metre wide diaphragm wall panel varies from 16-18 metres.
- The State Authorities have also been co-operating to execute this job.
