Kolkata Metro Update: Metro Railways earns Approx. 19 Crores Non-Fare Revenue in the financial year 2021-22

Metro Railway has earned Rs.19.32 crores (provisional) as non-fare revenue in the financial year 2021-22. 

  • This has been very significant in the Covid year when normal Metro services were suspended for about two months in 2021-22. 
  • Metro Railway as a part of Indian Railways, has played a pivotal role in increasing its non-fare revenue by adapting various innovative steps which is in general totally dependent on passenger earnings.
  • Metro Railway has completed station branding of total 10 North-South & East-West Metro stations. 
  • It has taken multi-pronged strategy to further increase non-fare revenue through advertisements inside and outside Metro rakes, side walls of escalators, hoardings in open space, installing health check up kiosks, digital clocks, digital fare charts at different stations etc.
  • This apart, Metro Railway has also completed Card Balance Checking Terminal (CBCT) branding, Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machine (ASCRM) branding, AFC- PC Gates branding, handle chain branding, installation of food kiosks, ATMs of different banks, Smart Card Branding etc in this fiscal. 
  • This has helped to increase the Non-Fare Revenue to a large extent.
