For implementing Metropolitan Transport Projects in Kolkata, Rs. 1221.3 crores have been allocated in 2021-2022 Union Budget. The details are hereunder:

- For setting up smoke extraction facilities at underground stations, Rs. 5.3551 crores have been allocated.
- For augmentation, upgradation and modification of power supply installations 2.8018 crores have been allocated.
- For an integrated security system at 23 stations of Metro Railway, Rs. 1.8 crores have been allocated.
Recent Achievement:
Shri Manoj Joshi, General Manager, inspected Noapara-Dakshineswar extension stretch of North-South Metro on 03.02.2021. He inspected the entire stretch from Noapara to Dakshineswar via Baranagar in the UP and DN directions.
- The Speed Trial from Noapara to Dakshineswar was conducted smoothly on 03.02.2021.
- Shri Joshi, other high officials of Metro Railway and senior officers of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) were present during this Speed Trial.
- A Medha rake was run at a maximum speed of 70 kms/hr to check the various parameters.
- Shri Joshi also stressed on the safety aspects during this inspection and conducted a thorough inspection of the signaling system, platforms, concourse, entry and exit gates, panel room, circulating area, AFC PC gates, PA system and other passenger amenities at Baranagar and Dakshineswar stations.
