Kollam Station to be redeveloped: RITES partners with M Senthil Kumar for platform upgradation works

RITES Limited, awarded a significant Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to M/s M Senthil Kumar Class 1 Contractor for platform upgradation and allied works in the redevelopment of Kollam Railway Station on EPC Mode.

  • Name of Work: Platform upgradation works erection of new shelters and replacement of roofing and drainage system of the railway station other engineering works for redevelopment of Kollam Railway Station on EPC Mode.
  • Awarded Value: INR 13,97,55,951.27/-
  • Contract Period: 600 Days

Works to be Executed by the Contractor:

The Contractor shall construct the Project Facilities in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement. Such Project Facilities shall include the following mandatory components:

  • Platform Upgradation works erection of new shelters and replacement of roofing
  • Drainage System of Railway Station
  • The contractor shall provide RCC duct of suitable size for all cabling arrangements.
  • The project is envisaged as GRIHA minimum 3 star rated or more. The contractor is liable to obtain the GRIHA certification for the same.
  • Signage is the most visible, most scrutinised station element and essential to proper functioning of the station.
  • Hence, shall be provided as specified in Manual for Standards and specifications for Railway Stations 2009 and its updation dated Nov 2020.
  • Providing required services and getting approvals from the authority.
  • Completion testing and handing over to the authority.

Platform Upgradation Works:

  • The EPC contractor’s scope includes upgradation of existing platforms by replacing the existing flooring and roofing sheet as per the drawing “Platform Section” (Ref. RLDA-DP 1054 DRG CL 04 014) and providing new platform shelters including foundation, tubular steel structure, roofing sheet etc. complete, complying with the standards and specifications of high level platforms as per IRSOD and finishing schedule laid down in Schedule-D.
  • Apart from replacing the roofing sheet and flooring material to full extent as per site condition, the contractor shall replace deteriorated structural members (if any) and also provide Aluminum Composite Panel Cladding to the existing platform columns and provide suitable services duct to conceal all services running through the platform shelter.
  • Platform shelter work shall be done without any infringement to Indian Railway Schedule of Dimensions and duly following safety norms especially while working closer to 25 KV OHE lines.
