Maha Metro invites tender for supply of 800 MT Rails for Pune Metro project

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MAHA-METRO) has invited tenders for Supply of 800 MT 60E1 (UIC 60), 880 Grade Rails as per IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips), for Pune Metro Rail Project.

Technical Proposal:

Technical Proposal / Details to be submitted by the Tenderer’s as a part of Technical Package:-

  • Proposal for No. of change over blooms will be in terms of Clause 4.3 of IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips).
  • The tenderer shall furnish details of the steel making process including refining, vacuum degassing, controlled cooling of bloom/rails etc. which will be followed, in terms of Clause 5.1 of IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips).
  • The Best accepted code of practice to be applied throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that the rails meet the stipulations of this specification. The tenderer shall furnish the measures adopted for ensuring the same as per Clause 5.3 of IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips). The Chemical Composition of rails for 880 Grade shall be as per with up to date correction slips/corrigendum of IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips).
  • Furnish details of online ultrasonic testing of rails to be followed as per Clause 10.3 of IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips).
  • Furnish the Clause-by-clause compliance/commentary on the provisions of IRS-T-12-2009 for 880 grade rails.
  • Furnish the proposal for the values /results obtainable for all the qualifying criteria tests mentioned in IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips) for 880 grade rails when conducted as per provisions of IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips).
  • Furnish the details of testing facilities, where the rails will be tested.
  • Furnish the proposal of packing and shipment to demonstrate that no damage will be caused to Rails up to Pune.
  • A confirmation in regard to weld ability of 880 grade rails proposed to be supplied as  per IRS-T-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips) by short pre-heat process of Alumino-thermic welding technique as specified in Indian Railway Specification IRS-T-19 (latest version) for Fusion welding of rails by Alumino-Thermic process duly following the provisions of Indian Railway Manual for Alumino-Thermic welding.
  • A confirmation in regard to use of 880 grade rails supplied as per IRST-12-2009 (Latest with all A&C slips)for radius up to 90 m.
  • Any other pertinent technical information /detail, the tenderer may like to furnish.

Funding:

Meanwhile, The Government of India (GoI) and European Investment Bank (EIB) on 7.5.2021 signed the finance contract for the second tranche of Euro 150 million for the Pune Metro Rail project through a virtual signing ceremony. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Mr. Francisco Andre, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Portugal and H.E. Mr. Werner Hoyer, President EIB.

  • Shri K. Rajaraman, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, signed the loan on behalf of Government of India and Mr. Christian Kettel Thomsen, Vice-President, signed the loan on behalf of EIB.
  • EIB had approved the total loan of Euro 600 million to fund the Pune Metro Rail project.
  • The Finance Contract for the first tranche of Euro 200 million was signed between GoI and EIB on 22.7.2019.
  • The project aims to provide an efficient, safe, economic and pollution-free Mass Rapid Transit System in a densely populated area in the city of Pune served with heterogeneous traffic options.
  • The financing from EIB will help to fund construction and operation of Corridor 1 (North-South) – Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate and Corridor 2 (West-East) –Vanaz (Kothrud) to Ramvadi, totaling about 31.25 kilometers (km) and related purchase of a related fleet of metro cars.
  • Further, the project will serve a large population which consisting working class in providing urban mobility for their livelihood.
  • The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MAHAMETRO) is the implementing agency for this project.
