Managing Director Along With Other Officials Took Oath For Environment Protection; Lmrc Is Celebrating ‘Environment Week, 2019’

Lucknow Metro is celebrating ‘Environment Week, 2019’ to spread awareness among the people about the conservation and protection of our environment. On this occasion, all the officials and employees, including Managing Director, Mr. Kumar Keshav, took oath today to keep the biodiversity viable for better life on earth in the administrative building situated at Gomti Nagar. Plants were also being distributed here among the Metro workers for plantation. Competitions like poster making, debate and on-spot slogan making were organized at Hazratganj Metro Station. June 5 is celebrated every year as the “World Environment Day”. On this occasion, Lucknow Metro will organize different programs from June 3rd to June 9th throughout the week to send the message among the people about their role in reducing environmental pollution.

Lucknow has a safe mass rapid transit system ‘Lucknow Metro’ in terms of protecting the environment, as well as its efforts to educate people about the importance of environment with their positive efforts are appreciable. On the first day of the Environment Week, June 3, a quiz contest was organized at the administrative building, in which all the staff members of the Metro participated with enthusiasm.

On Tuesday, 4th June, various programs were organized at different metro premises, the Administrative Building, Transport Nagar Depot and Hazratganj Metro Station. On this occasion, children from different organizations participated in the environmental quiz and debate competition at Hazratganj Metro Station. Children showed their creativity in the competition to create slogan on the subject of environmental protection too. The passengers traveling through the metro also participated in this event and praised the Metro’s initiative. On this occasion, quiz was also organized in the Transport Nagar Metro Depot. In the administrative building, everyone took an oath of environmental protection in the presence of Managing Director, Mr. Kumar Keshav.

In addition to it, a training session will be organized in Transport Nagar Depot on 06th June 2019, (Thursday) on the subject of modern techniques in the formation of clean environment by the Confederation of Indian Industry, CII and Indian Green Building Council, IGBC.

Clean environment is the foundation of our safe future. Traveling through the Lucknow Metro helps to reduce air pollution and noise pollution. LMRC has taken several steps to promote the clean and green initiatives of environment. With the use of regenerative breaking technology in metro trains, electricity is saved up to 38 percent. Not only this, energy efficient LED bulbs have been installed at all Metro stations. Every metro station is designed in such a way that it is totally dependent on natural light during the day and electric light is required only after the sunset. The efforts made by the company to conserve water have reduced water consumption by 40 percent. LMRC is also preparing to install 1MW of solar PV panel, which is 31 percent of its average annual power consumption.
