Mumbai Metro update: Tender invited for EIA & SIA study for extension of Metro line-5

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has invited e-tender for the following works of DPR preparation for extension of Metro Corridor from Rajiv Gandhi Chowk to Temghar via Vanjarpatti Naka and Durgadi Chowk to Ulhasnagar via Kharakpada and Shahad.

  • Description of work: EIA & SIA study for preparation of DPR for extension of Mumbai Metro Line-5 from Rajiv Gandhi Chowk to Temghar and Durgadi Chowk to Ulhasnagar. 
  • Earnest Money Deposit: INR 8,450/-
  • Period of completion: 45 days
  • Estimated cost: INR 4,22,370/-

Scope of work:

Study Area/Corridor: 

The study is for following proposed extension of Mumbai Metro Line-5 corridors:

  • Rajiv Gandhi Chowk to Temghar (8 km)
  • Durgadi Chowk to Ulhasnagar (7 km)

Total length of the corridors is 15 km (approx.)

Environmental Impact Assessment:

This section describes the General Scope of Services to be provided:

The scope of work broadly consists of the following activities:

  • Identifying and defining regulatory framework, legislative requirements and available standards.
  • Reconnaissance survey of the proposed route alignment.
  • Identification of hot spots like coastal zone involvement of forests, roads, rail crossing, bridges, rivers, nallahs, surface drainage as well as hydro geological conditions including aquifer geometry and groundwater flow etc.
  • Assessment of existing land use pattern and feasibility of the entire rail link route with respect to availability of natural resources within the statutory frame work.
  • Study the impact on the flora and fauna of the proposed project area and also on the monuments as per applicable by laws.
  • Establish the baseline status of the study area with reference to the air, noise / vibration, water and soil quality along the section.
  • Identification and suitability of sites for disposal of muck material generated from tunnelling and cutting for roads and design of retaining structures.
  • Identification and assessment of habitation coming under entire section especially with respect to noise/vibration impacts, resettlement and rehabilitation requirements.
  • Study the possible impacts of the project on land use pattern and suggesting alternative land use for environmental sustainability.
  • Suggest suitable measures for restoration of the drainage network.
  • Suggest suitable measures separately for mitigating the impact of noise and vibration in surrounding environment and habited area that is likely to be generated from the speed of the train.
  • The environmental and social baseline data collection for the entire proposed corridor at selected locations.
  • Preparing and suggesting adequate environmental management plan for environment sustainability, including environmental costs.
  • The consultant is also required to study the alignment against the extant requirements of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) notification and Forest Conservation Act, if applicable.

Social Impact Assessment :

The scope of work broadly consists of the following activities:

  • Reconnaissance survey of the proposed route alignment.
  • Identifying and defining regulatory framework, legislative requirements and available standards.
  • Identification of hot spots where the social impacts could be severe.
  • The social baseline data collection for the entire proposed corridor. Socio-economic survey along the proposed corridor shall be carried out to identify Project Affected People/ Project Affected Families, developing their socio-economic profile through survey and its evaluation. Information related to various aspects like demography, occupational pattern, vulnerable groups, rehabilitation requirements, institutional community facilities etc will be collected.
  • Enumeration of houses and structures, temporary and permanent at identified designated locations along the alignment. The enumeration will be confined to the houses and structures required to be acquired for the project.
  • Information related to details like existing buildings, business institutions and civil amenities would be collected and analyzed for the ROW 50m along corridor and 200m at stations.
  • The survey shall be carried out covering all the Project affected people;
  • Preparing and suggesting guidelines for preparation of resettlement and rehabilitation plan for project affected people.
