N.F. Railway unloads 1176 rakes of freight trains to maintain supply of essential and other commodities during July, 2022

N.F. Railway is continuously registering a steady growth in freight unloading. N.F. Railway has unloaded 4603 freight carrying rakes from April to July of current financial year.

More details:

  • This is an increase of 8.05% in comparison to the corresponding period of last year. N.F. Railway unloaded 1176 freight carrying rakes during the month of July, 2022. This is an increase of about 18.90% as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
  • N.F. Railway has transported goods like FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, food grains, fertilizer, cement, coal, vegetables, auto, tank, container and other items during the month and unloaded them in different goods sheds within its jurisdiction.
  • During July, 2022, 649 rakes of freight carrying trains were unloaded in Assam out of which 374 were loaded with essential commodities. 106 rakes in Tripura, 23 rakes in Nagaland, 3 rakes in Manipur and 5 rakes each in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram were unloaded during the month.
  • Moreover, 224 freight rakes in West Bengal and 161 freight rakes in Bihar were also unloaded during the month within the jurisdiction of N.F. Railway.
  • Essential and other commodities are being transported regularly to not o­nly meet the essential requirement of common people but also to keep the local economic activity of the region moving.
  • Improved terminal handling facility and improvement in mobility due to enhanced maintenance efforts & continuous monitoring at all levels resulted in reduction in turnaround time and increased unloading.
