Nagpur Metro Update: 80% track laying work completed between Sitabuldi Interchange-Prajapati Nagar

Work of track laying on Reach IV (Sitabuldi Interchange-Prajapati Nagar) is going on at full speed. It is now 80% complete and will be over soon. The total length of the Metro track to be laid on Reach IV is 16.050 kilometers (km). 

  • The figure includes both up and down lines of this 12.494 km track that has been laid so far.
  • The work of viaduct, stations, track, overhead electrical (OHE), signaling, etc on Reach IV is expected to be complete by December this year. 
  • Trains will start playing on this section once the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) gives the green signal.

Prajapati Nagar Metro Station Update:

Meanwhile, work in Prajapati Nagar Metro Station is fast approaching the completion stage. Once completed and Commissioned, this station will be an iconic example of Transit Oriented Development. 

  • Prajapati Nagar Station is located near HB Town Square.
  • This station has huge potential to enhance ridership by virtue of its strategic location.
  • Commuters from Pardi, Bhandara, Kalmana Market will get the benefits and direct and fast travel to Sitabuldi.
  • This station will be having 2 nos. Entry-exit on North and South Side.

Station Details:

  • Length – 88m
  • Width – 22m
  • Work Done – 58 %
  • No. of Floors – 4 Floor (First 2 Floors i.e. PD1 and PD2 are proposed for Property Development, 3rd Floor will be Concourse Level having Station Control Room (SCR), Ticket Office (TOM) are proposed, on 4th level i.e. Platform Level where Passenger can board the train.

Kamptee Road double-decker flyover:

Meanwhile, the work of the Kamptee Road double-decker flyover’s viaduct is 82% over. This is the second double-decker flyover being built in the city by Maha Metro after the one on Wardha Road. Both have been funded by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

  • The Kamptee Road flyover starts at LIC Square and ends at Automotive Square.
  • Nagpur Metro’s viaduct of Reach 2 (Sitabuldi Interchange to Automotive Square) is being constructed above the flyover. 
  • The height of the flyover is about 11 meter from ground level while the Metro viaduct is at a height of 25 m. 
  • The length of the flyover is 5.3 kilometers while its cost is Rs 573.16 crore and it will be completed soon.
  • When the flyover is completed, it will enable people to travel towards Kamptee very fast by road. 
  • While Nagpur will be linked with Kanhan under Phase-II of Nagpur Metro, those travelling in the direction of Ramtek, Seoni, Jabalpur, etc will not have to travel by the congested Kamptee Road. 
  • If the long distance traffic towards Mansar travels by the flyover, the congestion on Kamptee Road will be reduced benefiting those living in localities on both sides of this road.
  • Earlier, Maha Metro had constructed a 3.14 km long double-decker flyover on Wardha Road and it was opened for traffic in November 2020. 
  • The flyover begins from near Ajni Square and goes up to the Airport T-point.
  • Maha Metro had constructed the Manish Nagar railway overbridge (ROB) and railway underbridge (RUB) along with this flyover.
