NCRTC showcases new age technologies in implementation of RAPIDX, India’s First Regional Rail

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) led the knowledge-sharing conference titled ‘Leveraging Technology in Project Implementation’ held in New Delhi. The conference brought together professionals from diverse disciplines, thought leaders, and industry experts for knowledge and experience sharing.

More Details:

  • The exclusive conference was focussed on the new-age technologies transforming the mobility sector in the country. The conference was led by the NCRTC team and delivered a series of presentations highlighting new-age technologies like SPEED, Common Data Environment (CDE), Building Information Modelling, Continuous Operating Reference Station (CORS) and ETCS-2 Signalling System being used for the execution of project RAPIDX.

  • The conference included sessions on project management and monitoring tools in rail & urban transit projects, and impact of Building Information Modelling & Common Data Environment on projects in India.
  • Various distinguished speakers from NCRTC, Google Cloud, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd., Asian Development Bank, Systra, MVA Consulting India, Wrench Solutions, and Capricot Technologies have shared the new practices being developed for the industry.

During the inaugural session, Chief Guest Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Govt. of India, said, “Over the past few years, technology has played a key role in improving project implementation by the construction and infrastructure agencies. Leveraging the new age technologies for collaborating data among various projects is also in line with Hon’ble Prime ministers’ vision of Gati Shakti Master plan and is going to help the upcoming projects in the country”. NCRTC has deployed multiple tech tools like BIM, CDE, Wrench for efficient delivery of the country’s first Regional Rail project. It is praiseworthy that NCRTC has also taken the lead on such knowledge sharing platforms to disseminate it to other organisations.

Shri Vinay Kumar Singh, MD, NCRTC, in his address expressed his gratitude towards the Ministry of HUA, Central and State Governments and other stakeholders for their continuous support and guidance to NCRTC. He said, “It is the responsibility of the implementation agencies to deliver these projects within the scheduled cost and timeframe. At NCRTC, over the past four years of implementing the country’s first Regional Rail corridor, we faced several constraints of material, supply chain, and manpower, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. There were several complex challenges related to land acquisition, utility shifting, and Make-in-India requirements of Govt. of India. However, our focus on technological solutions since the beginning of the project helped us a lot in resolving these challenges. Tech solutions adopted from the planning stage itself, like Building Information Modelling (BIM), Common Data Environment (CDE), and Wrench proved very efficient and cost effective. These tools enabled seamless collaboration between a large number of consultants, contractors and designers.”
