Panasonic secures contract for installation of Platform Screen Doors for Chennai Metro Phase-2 project

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has recently awarded a significant Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to Panasonic Manufacturing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. for the installation of Platform Screen Doors on Corridors 3 and 5 of the Phase-2 project.

Scope of Work for the Contractor:

  • Full Height Platform Screen Doors (PSDs): The scope includes the supply and installation of full-height PSD systems designed for 3-car trains, with an approximate length of 70 metres per platform.
  • Bi-Parting Sliding Doors: Each platform will be equipped with 12 sets of bi-parting sliding doors, complete with drive mechanisms and electric motors, to ensure smooth and safe operation.
  • Electrical and Electronic Components: The contractor will provide all mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment necessary for the PSD façade, including integrated manual control panels.
  • Control Equipment: Equipment for the control circuitry of the PSD system will be installed in designated equipment rooms, ensuring reliable operation and integration with metro systems.
  • Infrastructure and Fixtures: Concrete or metallic bases, pedestals, anchor fasteners, and supports for indoor and platform equipment will be supplied to securely install the PSD systems.
  • Cabling and Connectivity: All necessary cables, including optical fibre cables, terminations, protection pipes, and accessories, will be provided to ensure full connectivity and functionality of the PSD system.
  • Workstations and Servers: The contractor will supply, install, and commission all required workstations, servers, and maintenance and diagnostic software for System Control Room (SCR), Operational Control Center (OCC), and Backup OCC (BOCC).
  • Cable Management: All spur cable containments, trays under false flooring inside equipment rooms, control rooms, track crossing pipes, and concealed conduits will be provided to manage cabling infrastructure efficiently.
  • Safety and Interfaces: All necessary equipment and interfaces will be supplied to meet safety standards and performance requirements, including temporary safety arrangements during different project stages.
  • Spare Parts and Tools: The scope includes the provision of special test equipment, tools, keys, maintenance utilities, and spare parts for the testing and commissioning period, Defect Liability Period (DLP), and warranty period.
