Pune Metro starts beautification of the road median to the metro route of elevated section

Pune Metro’s Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation(PCMC) to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi stretch has a total length of 33.2 km of which 25 km is the elevated stretch, this elevated section is constructed in the middle of the road (between the dividers).

More Details:

  • The roads from PCMC to Khadki, Vanaz Station to Garware Station, PCMC to Civil Court, and RTO to Ramwadi are the elevated stretches of Pune Metro and they are constructed by erecting pillars in the middle of the road.
  • Since the metro work was ongoing, beautifying the median was difficult. As the work of the elevated metro line is nearing completion, the Pune metro has taken up the work of beautifying these medians.

  • The distance between the two pillars of the metro is 25 to 30 meters and its width is 2 to 2.25 meters. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has beautified the road medians by planting trees at various places. Along the same lines, Pune Metro plans to beautify the road medians by putting good soil and planting them.
  • The beautification has also been planned along the lines of traffic islands so that there is no financial burden on the Pune Metro. While executing the beautification work, Pune Metro has decided to do it on a cost-neutral basis. Metro had floated tenders for the same.
  • The tender from Vanaz station to Garware station has been awarded to a company. Along with the beautification of the median, permission has been given to the company to put up two advertisement boards. In addition to this, the company has been asked to build vertical gardens on metro piers at important intersections in the city.

  • The company has to maintain the trees, lawn and vertical garden in the divisions for up to 5 years. Due to this planning, with media beautification, Metro will also get non-fare box revenue.
  • The tender for beautifying the median on the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to Harris Bridge and Civil Court to Ramwadi route alignment is currently under process. And, soon the tender for the beautification of these routes will be awarded (Information about the tender and tender process can be seen on Metro’s website.

On this occasion, the Managing Director of Maha Metro, Dr. Brijesh Dixit said, “Pune city is a green city as most of Pune is covered with dense vegetation. To complement the frondescence, Metro has taken up the beautification work. This will only add to the beautification of the city.”
