In a strategic leap to fortify telecommunication systems, RailTel Corporation of India Limited, a prominent CPSU under the Ministry of Railways, has triumphantly secured a substantial work order from South Central Railway. Valued at Rs. 20 Crores, the order is dedicated to telecommunication works for provision of IP-MPLS in 523RKM of Secunderabad division.

- RailTel Corporation of India Limited, a leading Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of Railways, has successfully secured a significant work order from South Central Railway. This prestigious contract, valued at Rs. 20 Crores, focuses on comprehensive telecommunication works for the provision of IP-MPLS (Internet Protocol – Multi-Protocol Label Switching) across 523 route kilometres (RKM) in the Secunderabad division.
- The contract amount on which the order has been received is: Rs. 20,22,05,784/-
- The awarded contract completion period is: Before 18th June, 2025.
Scope of Work under this Contract:
Design, supply, installation, integration, configuration, testing and commissioning of IP-MPLS routers in the following section of Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway.
- Lingampalli – Vikarabad: 50 RKM
- Vikarabad – Parli Vaijnath: 267 RKM
- Vikarabad – Wadi: 112 RKM
- Secunderabad – Raghunathpalli: 94 RKM
Creation of new 10G IP-MPLS backbone network over single dark fibre in the section. Interfacing, integrating and testing legacy SDH networks with IP-MPLS at IP-MPLS boundary locations as per the site requirements. Migration of existing services from SDH networks to IP-MPLS as per the site conditions and instructions of the Engineer in-charge.
Supply, installation, integration, configuration, testing and commissioning of divisional and zonal NOC for NMS of the IP-MPLS network created taking into account capacities of complete deployment of IP-MPLS network over South Central Railway.
Conclusion:
The development of RailTel securing the above telecom order for Secunderabad division is significant not only for the strengthening of the telecommunication network of Indian Railways but also for RailTel in terms of reinforcing its credibility to execute much needed telecom projects and would open more such avenues for the PSU to carry out the same.
