Railway Budget 2021 – 22 Live Updates:
Future Dedicated Freight Corridors projects namely – 1. East Coast Corridor from Kharagpur to Vijayawada, 2. East West Corridor from Bhusawal-Kharagpur-Dankuni, 3. North South Corridor from Itarsi to Vijayawada, to be undertaken. Detailed Projects Reports (DPRs) will be undertaken in the first phase.
High density rail networks and highly utilized rail routes to be provided with indigenously developed automatic train protection system which will eliminate train collision due to human error.
100% electrification of rail broad gauge routes to be completed by December 2023. Broad Gauge Route Kilometers (RKM) electrified is expected to reach 46,000 RKM i.e., 72% by end of 2021 from 41,548 RKM on 1st Oct 2020.
Budget 2021-22 Allocation for Metro projects:
– Rs. 63,246 crore for Chennai Metro phase-2
– Rs. 14,788 crore for Bangalore Metro Phase-2
– Rs. 5,976 crore for Nagpur Metro Phase-2
– Rs. 2,092 crore for Nashik Metro Phase-1
– Rs. 1,957 crore for Kochi Metro Rail Phase-2
702 km of metro rail already operation; 1,016 km of Metro and RRTS systems under construction in 27 cities. MetroLite and MetroNeo will be introduced in Tier 2 cities and peripheral areas of Tier 1 cities.
A record allocation of Rs 1,10,055 crore to be provided for Indian Railways, out of which Rs. 1,07,100 is for capital expenditure only.
The 263 km long Sonenagar-Gomoh section of Eastern DFC to be taken up on PPP mode to be taken up in FY2021 itself. The Gomoh-Dankuni section of 274.3 km will also be taken up in short succession.
Bringing down the logistic cost for industry is the core of strategy to enable Make in India. It is expected that Western DFC and Eastern DFC will be commissioned by June 2022.
Indian Railways have prepared a National Rail Plan for India 2030. The plan is to create a future ready railway system by 2030.
Railways will monetise Dedicated Freight Corridors assets for operations and maintenance after commisioning, said Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
The allocation for the railway is expected to be around Rs. 1.7 lakh crores and the gross budgetary support for railways is expected to be around Rs. 75,000 crore, according to the Brickwork Ratings’ report ‘BWR Pre-Budget Expectations FY22’.
