RDSO conducts key Oscillation & EBD trials on Bangalore Metro’s Reach 5 Line

RDSO officials are conducting Oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance (EBD) trials on the Reach 5 line of Bangalore Metro, stretching between Bommanahalli and RV Road. The trials, expected to last around 12-14 days, are crucial for the next step of obtaining technical sanction from the Railway Board.

Bommanahalli to RV-Road Line of Bangalore Metro:

  • Critical Testing Phase: Oscillation and EBD trials are currently underway on the Reach 5 line between Bommanahalli and RV-Road, conducted by RDSO officials to evaluate track stability and train braking efficiency.
  • 12-14 Days Duration: The trials are scheduled to last approximately 12-14 days, with detailed assessments contributing to the safety and operational benchmarks required for metro rail lines.

  • Next Steps: Following the trials, RDSO will submit a comprehensive report, which will be instrumental in securing technical approval from the Railway Board, moving closer to the line’s inauguration.

BMRCL also Signed an Agreement to Provide Direct Walkway from Pattanduru Agrahara Metro Station to ITPL Campus:

  • Enhanced Connectivity: The agreement between BMRCL and ITPL facilitates the construction of a Foot Over Bridge (FOB) walkway directly connecting the concourse level of Pattanduru Agrahara Metro Station to the ITPL premises, significantly improving access and convenience for the ITPL workforce.
  • Benefiting Thousands of Commuters: The FOB walkway will immediately benefit around 50,000 employees of ITPL, with the number expected to rise to 60,000 by 2025, allowing them to access their offices directly from the metro station without the need to cross busy roads, enhancing safety and reducing commute time.
  • Pioneering Initiative: This is the first such initiative on the Reach-1 Extension from Baiyappanahalli to White Field Metro Corridor, showcasing a model of public-private collaboration aimed at improving last-mile connectivity and supporting the infrastructure needs of Bangalore’s expanding metro network.

Insights:

Smt. Kalpana Kataria, IRS, Executive Director (C&AM), BMRCL appreciated the contribution of ITPL to promote Sustainable Transport and Seamless Connectivity to its Employees and requested other Corporates near metro stations to come forward along Metro Corridor for Innovative Financing or direct connectivity from metro stations for the convenience of their employees.

Shri Ravibhushan Vadhavkar, City Head Bangalore recognized the tremendous impact that the Metro line has had on decongesting traffic in Bangalore in giving citizens a comfortable and affordable means of travel. Completion of the Metro project would make Bangalore the most sought after destination for business.

Conclusion:

Upon completion of the trials, RDSO will compile and submit a detailed report, marking a significant step towards receiving the necessary technical approval from the Railway Board. This will pave the way for further progress on the Reach 5 line, enhancing Bangalore Metro’s connectivity and efficiency.
