  • Bogie is to be designed for maximum operating speed of 100 KMPH. Axle guidance is provided by an articulated control arm through a resilient bush. This is a two stage suspension bogie.
  • The car body rests on the transverse beam, transverse beam rests on Flexi Coil helical springs, which rests on Y shaped side beam. The bogie frame rests on primary stage helical springs, which are resting on the control arm. The tracking and braking force from axle to bogie frame is transferred through articulated control arm system of primary suspension.
  • The technical features of bogies area) Box Section Welded Bogie Frame made up of two longitudinal components connected by two cross beams and frame rests on the primary suspension spring units and supports the vehicle body by means of transverse beam. The transverse beam is connected to the bogie frame by secondary suspension.
  • The frame supports the brake units. The bogie frame rests on the primary suspension spring units and supports the vehicle body by means of a transverse beam.
  • Primary suspension consists of two steel coil springs (internal/external) laid out on the Control Arm upper part. Primary vertical dampers are used to damp the accelerations caused due to track irregularities. Alternate proven arrangement for cape gauge bogie may also be proposed.
  • Secondary suspension consists of two spring packs which sustain the transverse beam over the bogie frame. Each spring pack is made up of an internal and external Flexi-coil spring. Alternate proven arrangement for cape gauge bogie may also be proposed. Two vertical dampers, one lateral damper and two yaw dampers have been provided to damp the high frequency forces.
  • A pad is used below and above the secondary springs which is providing ball type joint between bogie frame & spring, spring & transverse beam to provide lateral flexibility.
  • Cartridge Taper Roller Bearing — Bogie is fitted with Cartridge Type Roller Bearings. These are self-contained, preassembled, pre-lubricated, maintenance free and are totally enclosed to avoid manual handling. These are applied and removed from the axles without exposing the bearing elements or lubricant to avoid contamination or damage. The overhaul cycle is 0.6 million KM.
  • Dampers — Each bogie is provided with 4 primary vertical, 2 secondary vertical, 1 secondary lateral and 2 yaw dampers. These are hydraulic shock absorbers to absorb the accelerations caused due to track irregularities and opposing force depending on the speed of the movement.
