RITES Ltd., a Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways has invited tender for the Engagement of freight forwarder for transportation of export project cargo consisting of 34 nos. Passenger Coaches ex. MCF, Raebareli, UP and approx. 200 CBM of spares ex. MCF, Raebareli, UP / RITES’ Warehouse, Delhi via Mumbai Sea Port to Maputo Sea port, Mozambique on CIF basis.
While the 34 nos. Passenger Coaches which are being manufactured at MCF, Raebareli, UP, India, shall be handed over to the freight forwarder at MCF, Raebareli, UP, the spares would be handed over to the freight forwarder partly at MCF, Raebareli, UP and partly at RITES’ Warehouse, Delhi. The freight forwarder would need to club the consignments at Mumbai Sea port for onward shipment to Maputo, Mozambique.

Scope of Work:
- The scope of work under this contract shall consist of “transportation of export project cargo consisting of 34 nos. Passenger Coaches ex. MCF, Raebareli, UP and approx. 200 CBM of spares ex. MCF, Raebareli, UP / RITES’ Warehouse, Delhi via Mumbai Sea Port to Maputo Sea port, Mozambique on CIF basis”.
- While the 34 nos. Passenger Coaches shall be handed over to the freight forwarder at MCF, Raebareli, UP, the spares would be handed over to the freight forwarder partly at MCF, Raebareli, UP) and partly at RITES’ Warehouse, Delhi. The freight forwarder would need to club the consignments at Mumbai Sea port for onward shipment to Maputo, Mozambique.
- RITES shall advise cargo ready notice and likely date for collection of the consignment. Freight forwarder shall make complete arrangements for loading, lashing & securing on road trailers for transportation to Mumbai Sea port, receiving / handling of the consignment at Mumbai Sea port including customs clearance, engagement of project cargo / break bulk vessel, calling of vessel at loading port including berthing of vessel, loading and securing of the consignment on vessel for shipment to Maputo, Mozambique, unloading of the consignment at Maputo / Beira, Mozambique and finally handing over of the cargo to the Client.
- Freight forwarder (Contractor) shall be responsible for all activities required for successful completion of the said work, which will include, but not necessarily, be limited to the following:
- RITES shall handover the Coaches at nominated site inside MCF, Raebareli. RITES shall inform likely date for collection of cargo to Freight Forwarder at nominated site. Freight Forwarder shall make all arrangements for collection, loading, handling, securing, lashing and transportation of consignment to the Mumbai Sea port for onwards export to Maputo, Mozambique on CIF basis.
- Collection / handling/ Loading / Lashing / Securing / covering by tarpaulin and Transportation to Mumbai Sea Port:
- 34 nos. Passenger Coaches shall be handed over to the freight forwarder at MCF, Raebareli. Coach Upper shall be loaded on suitable trailers. Bogies shall be loaded separately on suitable mechanical trailers. The coach upper shall be placed on suitable trestles (02 Nos per Coach Upper), supply of which shall be in the scope of the contractor. It is expected that 03 bogies would be loaded on one 40’ trailer. All materials required for proper securing and covering of the coach uppers as well as of the bogies shall be in the scope of the contractor.
- Freight forwarder shall ensure that after loading of coaches uppers / bogies on the trailers, the overall height of the consignment with trailer height should not exceed Government norms.
- Freight forwarder shall place suitable trailers / trucks at nominated sites at MCF and RITES warehouse, Delhi for the transportation of spares to Mumbai for onward export to Mozambique as and when advised by RITES.
- Loading of consignment at nominated site:-
- Coach Uppers and the bogies shall be offered for loading to the Contractor at the nominated site(s) at MCF. Loading of the Coach Upper and the bogies onto the road trailers at the nominated site(s)at MCF shall entirely be the responsibility of the Contractor. For this purpose, suitable cranes of sufficient capacity shall be arranged by the Contractor at its own cost.
- Spares would be offered at MCF / RITES’ warehouse at Delhi. Loading of the same onto road trailers / trucks shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.
- Supply of Suitable Lifting Arrangement for loading of Coach Uppers and bogies including any longitudinal beams, tackles and transverse spreaders etc. that may be needed shall be arranged by the freight forwarder.
- Before start of the work, the Contractor shall submit the complete scheme:-
- For loading and securing of the Coach Uppers and bogies at MCF including the capacity of the road mobile cranes proposed to be deployed, type and length / capacity of road trailers / trucks as also schematics / drawings for the lifting tackles, wire ropes, spreaders, beams, clamps and trestles etc. to be used.
- For loading and securing of the Coach uppers and bogies at the Mumbai Sea port including any loading / unloading to be carried out at port in case of delay in arrival of the Vessel including the capacity of the Vessel crane / Port crane as also of the road mobile cranes proposed to be deployed as also schematics / drawings for the lifting tackles, wire ropes, spreaders, beams, clamps and trestles etc. to be used.
- For unloading of the Coach uppers and bogies at Maputo Sea port including the capacity of the Vessel crane / Port crane proposed to be deployed as also schematics / drawings for the lifting tackles, wire ropes, spreaders, beams, clamps and trestles etc. to be used.
- Loading at Mumbai port by vessel own cranes/ derricks/ stevedoring/spreader beam/wire rope/lashing/securing/ dunnage /cut wood/ chains / saddle/ clamp/ labour / gang/ equipment for welding/other required equipments etc. shall be in the scope of the Freight Forwarder.
- Unloading at Destination port by vessel own cranes/ derricks/ stevedoring/spreader beam/wire rope/lashing/securing/ dunnage /cut wood/ chains / saddle/ clamp/ labour / gang/ equipment for welding/other required equipments etc. shall be in the scope of the Freight Forwarder.
