RVNL fast tracks works at the Coaching Depot of Jheel Siding in Howrah Division

RVNL has been executing at a fast pace the phase works of the development of the Coaching Depot at Jheel Siding of Howrah Division of Eastern Railway with state-of-the-art facilities. 

  • After completion of the inspection shed of 425m length, the depot will be able to maintain rakes under all-weather conditions. 
  • The shed has 3 tier maintenance facility with a dedicated washing line and a heavy repair shed having EOT crane.
  • Phase-l work was commissioned and handed over by RVNL on 28.06.2021 to the Zonal Railway. 
  • In Phase-1, the site for the washing lines 6, 7, and 8, the administrative building, and the Heavy Repair shed have been developed with sustainability principles. 
  • The Shed equipped with two 30T EOT cranes, an electric substation, washing lines, roads, drainage system, water supply system, and a parking shed has been handed over. 
  • The work required the removal of 6 lines (3500 TKM), 15 OHE masts, 300mm and 500mm diameter water lines, OFC lines, and 2 nos. 11KV lines.
  • The phase-II work(inspection shed and washing lines with catwalk facility) commenced in Nov. 2022. 
  • The OHE and track of the 6 lines have been dismantled and all the piles have been cast for the inspection shed. tier casting of the majority of the piles and pedestals, the erection of the shed has already been started.
  • RVNL is committed to the fast track completion of the project despite severe space constraints.
