RVNL secures two major railway contracts worth over Rs. 463 crores

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been declared the lowest bidder for two major railway projects by East Central and East Coast Railways. The projects involve electrification works in Dhanbad Division and construction of new lines in the Jarapada-Talcher Road section, with a combined awarded value exceeding Rs. 463 crores.

Introduction:

In a significant development, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a leading public sector undertaking, has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for two significant railway contracts from the East Central Railway and East Coast Railway. These projects, aimed at improving railway infrastructure, will enhance operational efficiency and connectivity.

Project 1: East Central Railway Contract

  • Scope: Design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 2x25KV feeder line along the track, including 25KV Overhead Equipment (OHE) modifications.
  • Section: Garwa Road to Mahadiya section of the Dhanbad Division.
  • Objective: To achieve a loading capacity target of 3000 MT for both UP and DOWN lines.
  • Contract Value: INR 180,00,96,810/-
  • Completion Period: 18 months

Project 2: East Coast Railway Contract:

  • Scope: Construction of a third and fourth line between Jarapada and Talcher Road, and a new line between Angul-Balram (MCRL Inner Corridor Phase-I Doubling of 14 km).
  • Work Involved: Balance earthwork, formation, minor and major bridges, P-Way linking, ballast supply, S&T buildings, level crossing, and other miscellaneous works.
  • Exclusions: Station yards are excluded from the scope of work in both sections.
  • Contract Value: INR 283,69,90,691/-
  • Completion Period: 24 months

Conclusion:

The dual contracts, awarded to RVNL, reinforce the company’s pivotal role in enhancing railway infrastructure across key regions. With a combined value of over ₹463 crores, these projects will not only improve loading capacity but also ensure efficient railway operations and connectivity.
