S.C.Railway Update: Hingoli Deccan–Washim Railway line electrified

The electrification of railway lines in Maharashtra State over South Central Railway jurisdiction has been progressing at a brisk pace in all the sections. As part of it, o­ne more section between Hingoli Deccan–Washim for a distance of 46.30 Route Km has been completed and commissioned as part of Akola–Purna electrification project.

More details:

  • With this, a continuous stretch of 126 Kms between Akola – Hingoli Deccan stations stands electrified, enabling seamless connectivity of rail lines.
  • Electrification of Akola – Purna section for a distance of 209 Kms has been sanctioned in the year 2017-18 with an estimated cost of Rs 277 Crores. As part of it, electrification between Akola – Lohogad for a distance of 34.5 Route Kms has been completed in March 2021 and electrification of 45.3 Km between Lohogad – Washim has been completed during March, 2022.
  • Now, with the electrification of 46.3 Rkm stretch between Washim – Hingoli Deccan, the continuous 126 Kms stretch of electrified railway line in the section facilitates seamless movement of the trains. Electrification Works in the balance section i.e., Hingoli Deccan – Purna for a distance of 84 Kms is in fast progress.
  • The Rail infrastructure in the state of Maharashtra will be strengthened by the electrification of railway lines and provides seamless movement of freight and passenger traffic, besides reducing the enroute detentions.
  • Electrification of railway lines in these sections immensely benefit the Railways by reducing the fuel expenditure, while also being environment friendly, as it reduces the emission of carbon footprints.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge), SCR, has complimented Officials and staff of SCR Headquarters Electric Wing and Nanded division for completing the electrification works with dedication and commitment. He stated that, Akola – Purna electrification project is being specially monitored for completion within targeted dates. He stated that, Electrification of this section helps in running of more trains towards the Northern direction as it is a critical rail link and helps in connecting many important stations in all directions.
