SCR registers best ever performance in May 2022 for both Passenger and Freight segment which is also highest for any month since its inception

South Central Railway’s performance in the new financial year has begun exceptionally well with the Zone achieving its best-ever Monthly earnings in both the Passenger and Freight segment in the month of May 2022. The originating passenger revenue of Rs 423.98 Crores registered during May, 2022 is the highest-ever earnings, the previous best being Rs 414.48 Crores. Similarly, the Zone registered Rs. 1,067.57 crs in Freight revenue in May 2022 – the highest ever in a month.

More details:

  • The Zone’s proactive approach in planning for the summer season by operating special trains has given rich dividends, wherein 2.65 lakhs passengers were carried through 66 special trains (266 trips) in May 2022. In addition, the Zone has been continuously augmenting the trains with additional coaches, wherever there is a possibility and a demand, leading to more number of passengers being transported.
  • A total of 1, 14,835 passengers were carried by attaching 1,533 additional coaches during the month of May of 2022. All these have resulted in the Zone also recording its best-ever occupation in a month for Mail Express Trains. It may be noted that the Zone has already resumed all its Mail Express train services compared to the pre-COVID period.

  • Simultaneously, the Zone has been giving importance to widen its freight basket by starting new streams of traffic, while strengthening the existing commodity streams. The continuous endeavour in this direction has resulted in the Zone recording its best-ever freight revenue in a month by earning Rs. 1,067.57 Crs in May 2022.
  • In fact, the 11.713 MTs of freight loaded in May 2022 is the second best loading in a month for SCR, since its inception. Several new streams of traffic were started including Clinker from Nadikudi, Maize from Reddipalem and Narsaraopeta, Quartz from Sadashivapet Road, and Cement in Tank containers among others.
  • While 6.037 MTs of Coal was loaded, other major commodities include Cement (3.147 MTs), Fertilisers (0.719 MTs) and Foodgrains (0.558 MTs) among others.

Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-charge), South Central Railway has congratulated both the Operating and Commercial teams for achieving this impressive earnings at the beginning of the new financial year. He said that the achievements have been due to the unrelenting efforts and exceptional synergy displayed by our dedicated team members. The General Manager advised the Divisions to maintain the same tempo to proactively meet the requirements of both the Passengers as well freight customers.
