Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, SCR inspects Wagon Workshop, Rayanapadu

Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway undertook Annual Inspection of Wagon Workshop, Rayanapadu on 17th November, 2021. He was accompanied by Shri Shivendra Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division and other senior officials (from both the Headquarters and Division) throughout the inspection.

  • The Workshop at Rayanapadu is the o­nly major workshop handling the Periodical Overhauling (POH) of the wagons over South Central Railways. 
  • Periodic Overhauling of Wagons is an important maintenance activity closely associated with the safe operation and longer life of the wagons.
  • During the course of the inspection, the General Manager inaugurated Thermal screening system, Remote Control Gate Operation system at the main gate entrance. 
  • He flagged off the Open Coal Hopper Wagon (BOBR) POH rake and laid the foundation stone for Effluent Treatment plant of 75 KLD capacity. 
  • He commenced the inspection at the stripping shop and proceeded o­nto inspect the staff cafeteria, Air brake section. 
  • He also examined the periodical maintenance activity of wagons in the body repair shop.
  • Shri Gajanan Mallya inaugurated the Distributor valve assembly cum test bench, launched various equipment to facilitate the working such as 20 tonnes EOT crane, 500 tonnes Hydraulic press, CNC Axle Journal Turning and Burnishing Lathe (AJTB), Portal Wheel Lathe and Workshop Information System (WISE point). 
  • The General Manager also conducted a detailed inspection of the Centre Buffer Coupler (CBC) Bogie section. 
  • He planted saplings to promote a green environment and interacted with the staff at the workshop.
  • Later, the General Manager held a detailed performance review meeting of the Rayanapadu Wagon Workshop. 
  • He reviewed the progress of various projects undertaken by the workshop and discussed o­n further developmental plans with the officials. 
  • During the inspection, trade union representatives of the workshop met the General Manager and discussed o­n staff welfare activities
